Frequently asked questions
Is the test 100% discreet?▼
Yes. We send the collection kit in a plain white envelope with no DNAtest.CZ logo or company name (NOTE: registered parcels must include the company name by law). Your bank statement will show a neutral company name. Discretion is our top priority and is guaranteed at every stage of the test.
What if the buccal swab doesn't work out?▼
There is no need to worry — every one of our clients has successfully collected their buccal swab so far. If the laboratory determines that your sample is insufficient (too little DNA / contaminated DNA), we will notify you and offer possible solutions. PROFI clients automatically receive a free replacement test.
Can the result be used in court?▼
Standard tests (BASIC, PRO Lite) are so-called informative (anonymous) tests. For legal purposes you must use a Court Expert test or the "verified" DNA PROFI test, which requires identity verification by one of our staff or a court-appointed expert.
Does the child's mother need to know about the test?▼
No. The mother's consent or participation is not required for an anonymous (informative) test. The analysis is fully valid when comparing only Father and Child samples. Your privacy is our priority.
I cannot do a buccal swab. Can I use hair or a toothbrush?▼
Yes. If a standard swab is not possible, we can extract DNA from alternative samples (used toothbrush, used chewing gum, blood traces on fabric, plucked hairs with roots!, cigarette butts, etc.). Store these samples in a paper envelope (not a plastic bag!). Please note there is an additional charge for manual DNA extraction.
Do we all need to be present at the same time for sample collection?▼
No. Samples can be collected at different times and even in different locations. However, all samples must arrive at the laboratory at the same time. The laboratory will wait until both (or all) of your samples have been delivered before starting the analysis.
Can the test be done during pregnancy?▼
We normally perform tests after the child is born. Prenatal tests (from the mother's blood or amniotic fluid) do exist but are very costly or carry some risk to the foetus. We perform them only in exceptional cases. We always recommend waiting until after birth — a sample can be collected within the first few days of a newborn's life.
